About
C.A.R.E.S. Psychotherapy and Colette Thomas
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, 96832
My name is Colette Thomas. I’m a licensed clinical social worker providing psychodynamic psychotherapy to individuals and couples in California via Telehealth.

The foundation of C.A.R.E.S. Psychotherapy is built on encouraging Curiosity, Authenticity, and Reflection in an Empathic and Supportive space.

My approach is grounded in understanding the interplay between the unconscious and conscious mind. By reflecting on current and past experiences and relationships, we can uncover underlying patterns, explore unresolved conflicts, and foster greater self-awareness.

Exploring these unconscious dynamics that influence your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can help you move toward a life with more agency, meaning, and understanding.

While my primary focus is psychodynamic psychotherapy, I employ an integrative approach, drawing from various modalities such as Trauma-Informed Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and the Developmental Model to address your unique needs.

Below are a few key trainings that have significantly shaped my approach to care:

-
Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Maryland, University College (UMUC)
-
Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA)
-
2-Year Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program at the New Center for Psychoanalysis (NCP)
-
1-Year Altered States of Body and Mind Program (Addiction and Eating Disorders) at the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies (LAISPS)
-
Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors at Therapy Wisdom

I bring a compassionate approach to therapy, recognizing that navigating life's complexities requires not only knowledge and wisdom but also heart.
